Senior Data Engineer

Role Responsibilities

Roadtrippers is looking for creative problem solvers to help us conquer some of the world’s most complex geodata challenges. Every day, we deal with ingesting place data from numerous sources and synthesizing all of it into an informative and easy to consume API, distributed to our super fun Roadtrippers apps and API partners.  As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help us organize all of the world’s best travel and tourism place data, both large and small. You will help build the infrastructure to create, update, and categorize world-wide place data. You will play a critical part in optimizing our data pipeline.

  • Experience with Python, R, or some other high-level language frequently used in data science
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with data pipeline related technologies including, but not limited to Athena, Spark, Presto or Airflow
  • Three years professional data engineering experience
  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Statistics / Mathematics / Related Area (or equivalent work experience)
  • Comfortable using Git and Linux command line
  • Experience in working with geographic/location data
  • A love of travel, especially road trips!  Knowledge of RV'ing is a plus!
  • Our tech stack also includes Ruby on Rails, Mapbox, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Elasticsearch, Redis, and Ansible.  Experience is beneficial, not required.
